Dinner. Chicken salad. When you know that your dinner is made up of mostly protein and good old H2O, of course you smile. This was delicious! In a couple of whole lettuce leaves, place a salad made with 2-3 grated carrot, half an avocado (sliced), salad onion, a small handful of feta cheese, 2 stalks […]

Happy cooking
A few weeks ago we endured a very wet weekend. We think we had over 100ml of rain because some buckets that were outdoors had more than 10cm in them! We spent the whole day on Sunday, cooking on our beautiful wood stove. It was such a productive day, albeit completlely exhausting. We loved it. […]

Zucchini chutney
We are inundated with zucchinis. We have four plants and their yield is very high. We are growing three varieties: yellow, pale green and crook neck. I love zucchinis. We eat them raw, as a grated accompaniment to any meal. Cabbage can be replaced with zucchinis for coleslaw too. We eat the new ones, sliced, […]

Pickled Radishes

Our celebrations have been ongoing since we put the tree up at the end of November. There has been lots of baking: biscuits, cake, yum-yum balls, […]

December 23
I love the simple things about Christmas, like decorating gingerbread biscuits with my children. It not only reminded me of my childhood, when decorating the biscuits was family tradition, but it got the children’s imaginations running wild. We had a lovely time. This christmas, I’m so grateful to have my three children celebrating with me.

December 21
I must be entertaining. At least, my children seem to think so! They lined up in the kitchen and watched me make shortbread biscuits… They even helped a bit! I’m so very proud of my greatest admirers! The biscuits turned out pretty well. For dessert, Georgie and Matthew had shortbread, ice-cream, strawberries and raspberries!
Banana choc chip muffins
Indeed. This is what I am thinking about… it is 5 minutes until the home bell and I am sitting at my desk at work, watching the wind blow the branches of the trees in all directions; the birds flitting around the Dahlias and the clouds trying to decide whether to stay or to go. […]
