School Holidays: my bucket list

I do love my job. I love the constant challenge and the creativity and I love working with children. I love that my job is so social. I love it that I have to think intellectually. I love it that I constantly need to reflect on what I do, make changes and make plans. I love it that I get tax rebates on books and stationery (especially the stationery; I collect too many pens and notebooks)!

I’ve got to confess. One of the things I love most about my job is the 3 months of paid leave every year. Sure, the holidays are spread out over the year and only take place when school students are on holiday. That’s the point. I get holidays with my children. I work the same hours as they do! This is the perfect job for me.

I’m on two weeks of Spring holidays right now. The grandparents are staying with us and the children are enjoying games, food, playing and reading and watching a few movies. When the weather is nice we are frolicking in the garden, exploring things to eat and grow, and planting new things. We are enjoying the animals and we often talk of the broody chook who is currently sitting on ten eggs! Imagine – ten babies!

My holiday bucket list
.rest a lot
.go running at least 6 times (1 down!)
.share our adventures with the grandparents
.take each child out on a date with mummy at least once (1 down!)
.finish my crochet scarf
.make 3 loaves of sandwiches for school lunches
.bake 24-48 muffins for school lunches
.go for a family bushwalk
.go on a picnic/diving adventure
.buy Georgia new school shoes
.lose a kilo
.plan for term three (work)
.cook yummy meals for the family
.bake some treats for afternoon teas in the sunshine!
.catch up with friends

Am I too ambitious? What do you like doing on your holidays? Do you get school holidays with your children? If not, how do you manage Childcare?
