Geeveston Spring Festival

We headed off to Geeveston for the Spring festival. It was a wet, windy day. The main street was quiet but there were lots of places to see. There was so much good food and wine available; it really showcased the skill in this area. There are so many enterprises, producing food, wine, craft and art for sale in our town.

The children had sausage rolls at the local bakery.

We bought the children fairy floss from one of the local restaurants. They managed to eat most of it but it did get a bit soggy in the constant light drizzle.

We went to the community hall, where there was an art display of local children from local childcare centres and local schools. My nearly-nine year old daughter is wearing my jacket!

Matthew’s art was displayed. His paintings are the two on the left side. He was really proud of his work. He’s a lovely artist.

Matthew and Elora played happily in the hall whilst we chatted to old friends. Then they sat and waited reasonably patiently.

When the rain came pouring down, we sought refuge and shelter and nourishment at a local cafe, run by our friend Michelle. The children had milkshakes, cupcakes and hot chocolate.

It’s a shame the weather was so bleak. It would have been a lovely atmosphere, had the sun shone warmly on this day. It also would be good, next year, to have part of the main street closed off to traffic, so that the stalls could be closer together, with live music and colourful bunting.
