No, we didn’t eat him!
Last night, when I let Naigee the cat inside, I got more than I bargained for when a frog started hopping around the kitchen!
It was pouring with rain. I imagine there are frogs everywhere around our house right now. We hear them all the time – night and day!
Anyway, this little critter (which is not such a small frog, actually) was the centre of attention for a few moments. I had my phone in my hand (I know. What a surprise!) so I quickly took blurry photos between squealing whenever he hopped (he hopped so high!).
When he started to climb the wall I was relatively entertained/freaked out/in awe. What a beautiful, amazing creature!
He was only inside for a short time. Monte scooped him up in his hands. The frog hopped out of monte’s hands twice before he was safely put outside in the wet wet cold night.
Georgia and Matthew were, of course, woken by my squealing. Actually, I don’t think they had fallen asleep yet. They got to see the frog too, and I am glad. They get to see so many things: wallabies and bunnies hopping along the road. They get to see wedge tailed eagles soaring overhead. We see kangaroos and wombats and possums at night. We have currawongs nesting nearby. We’ve had an echidna in the front yard and now we have had a frog in the kitchen! Now that’s rural living!
