I have written about my intentions to change our study nook (here and
here).
Well, it’s practically finished:
I decided on a cupboard instead of a study nook because (1) the study nook as it was always became a dumping ground for everything (2) the cupboard is neater (3) more storage is always awesome and (4) I/we didn’t use my desk much anyway.
The new cupboard is big, and already I have filled the new space with all my previous desk items, plus more, and there are three bare shelves (save some empty storage containers) for me to load up with more things! Also, I have been able to store my things in a rather spacious way; I am sure I could squeeze things up more if I needed to!
The cupboards match our kitchen:
And our laundry:
I think I will manage without a desk. I don’t use a desktop computer because I use my iPad for most things, so I can sit anywhere. Also, it will be better to use the dining table for my sewing because I can spread out there and work in the better light of that room. The children use the kitchen bench, or the dining table, for their homework and crafts so they will not miss the desk either. Monte likes the fact that the cupboards look so much neater than my desk ever did (ahem).
My next job – in the hope of becoming more organised this year – is to sort out the guest room/office WIR and the bookshelves in the office. Getting these new cupboards in our hallway means that we have been able to make more space in the cupboards in other rooms!
A few days ago (March 18) we acknowledged living in the house for three years. We have come a long way in those three years, with the garden developing and the house getting closer and closer to a) being the way we want it b) being complete!
Imagine that! The house is nearly complete!
