More pillow case sewing…

Published by Rebecca on September 30, 2011

Excuse me whilst I clothe my children in old pillow cases (and t-shirts). They’re not even snazzy vintage ones. They are just honest, old pillow cases, bought at the op shop, or found at the bottom of a pile of stuff in the cupboard.

This time, it was pants. I found this stripy pillow case at Vinnies, for 50c. It’s a small children’s one. I basically cut out the pants pattern* like this, keeping the bottom and side seams intact, and cutting away at the top (secure) seam of the pillow case. There’s actually nothing to it:

Cutting out the pants from a pillow case

All I had to do was sew along the crotch seam, which went from one leg to the other. Then I made the elastic band casing, threaded through some elastic that measured up with Ella’s waist, and, voila…

pillow case pants!

My adorable baby daughter wears pillow cases. But are these not adorable? She wears them a lot, actually.

I also made some for Matthew, using the same technique, but with a larger pillow case. They are great jarmies pants :)

Even the boy wears a pillow case

Isn’t he quite the model?

And here’s a bit of trivia for you. Matthew and Elora have the same waist measurement. Go figure!

*The pattern is from Pip Lincoln’s book, “Meet me at Mike’s”
