Whassup?

This week has been quite normal.

So, what is a normal week at Fangorn?

We rested on Monday. Monte worked. We did jobs around the house and I was pretty put out that Mothers Day only comes once a year, and I had to do the dishes. Georgia went to school on Tuesday and Matty went to childcare. On picking him up, they told me that he is “an awesome child – so laid back.” Of course, I know this already, having raised him since he was born, and I know that he is laid-back, just like his father, but if Matty gives me the ‘manyana’ attitude when he is older I will scream.

I digress. On Tuesday I went into town with my dear friend Tania. It was so much fun but she is very naughty for introducing me to the best wool shop ever. My experience there was like my first experience at Ikea. My eyes watered! Too much to look at! Sad, I know. We seemed to have to feel and touch and even *smell* each type of yarn in the store. The shelves were stacked high and wide with wool wool wool. It was great. I had to peruse practically every pattern book. I have a thing for pattern books. I also spent too much money in there but by golly, it was worth it. But if that wasn’t enough, we had to look in almost every op-shop around and then trek around Habitat for a while. I have a penchant for tea pots and tea cups and Tania has to eat cake because she is pregnant, so we sopped for cake too. We were so exhausted that we had to go home – at 2pm. I love my outings with Tania. We shall continue the granny theme next Tuesday, when we go to the spinners and weavers meeting! :D

Wednesday seems a blur, but I do remember a particularly thick fog that hovered around Geeveston for a big part of Thursday morning, when I was helping with Georgia’s kindy. We were learning about the letter A. Georgia finds the a the most difficult letter to write. I love working with the young children and it gives me a sense that I do more than dishes, sweeping, changing nappies, crochet and knitting! I could almost teach young children for a living. And I do, come to think about it.

Today has been a difficult day because I have not been very well. Friday is generally my op-shopping day, but I stayed home with the kids whilst Monte went out and helped his mate Jamahl with a windmill raising. I am most envious of Tanya and Jamahl’s dam and windmill and can’t wait to have a dam of our own (should happen in a fortnight or so). I finished a crochet project and started another, watched a Barbie movie with the children and I managed some exercise up to the top of our hill.

Tomorrow we will go to Hobart for the Salamanca Market, plus some other things. Then we go to Tanya and Jamahl’s for an Asian night, with our friends Miranda and PJ, and Kristina and Craig. I am looking forward to tomorrow night’s dinner. We plan to make a new chook house this weekend, for our new birds. My new rooster, who I am calling Peter for some reason, loves me! He runs to me and he flies onto my shoulder! What is the deal with that? I love it though. Peter is a gorgeous bird.

So, a week at Fangorn involves some work, some rest and some socialising. Our life is simple and balanced, and a great deal of fun.
