I had a wonderful mothers day. My family spoiled me in the morning with presents and breakfast in bed, and Monte didn’t let me do anything! He even did the dishes! We went for a lovely drive and had a picnic at Kettering, which is where the ferry leaves for Bruny Island (we decided not to go to Bruny). We were looking out to Bruny Island and one day we would like to camp there. We had a really lovely drive and once at our picnic spot we ate some yummy foods and then collected shells and skimmed stones on the water. It was a lovely image to see my husband and my son throwing/skimming stones on the water. Georgia and I collected shells with holes in them so we can make some jewelry.
To finish the day we stopped by at our friends, Tanya and Jamahl’s house. We ended up staying for dinner. I exclaimed that I was happy to be there because they are like family, so it was like being with family. Tanya and Jamahl collected some chickens for us and we now have 5 new hens and 2 roosters. One of them has already gone missing (he must’ve overheard that we were going to have a roast chicken dinner!). The other rooster is stunning, like Dickie (they are brothers), except this one has golden laced feathers on his neck. You should’ve seen them fighting! Because we now have 11 hens and 3 roosters (or possibly 12 hens and 2 roosters – not sure about Dickie jnr at this stage), we will be building a new henhouse, which will divide the breeds and even things out a bit.
So, my mothers day was very exciting. I am grateful for my own mother, and my mother-in-law, and my grandmother, for all they teach me, show me and guide me. I believe that we are made strong by the lines of women that go before us and come after us, and we should be ever grateful for our mothers. I am particularly blessed. And my own children and my wonderful husband bless me every day.
