2016 Goals

And this is the time of year that I set myself some goals and publish them on my little blog. It holds me accountable. It makes me want to achieve the things I’ve set out to do.

Grow more food. Each year we are getting closer to our goal of living sustainably on our little farm. This year, I want to continue work towards that goal. I’d like to build a new polytunnel and a netted garden, in which we grow larger crops. I want to try to continuously plant new food to eat. Also, by the end of this year, I’d like to provide all our own meat on the farm: chicken, duck, rabbit, beef and pork. We can do this!

I love to create. One of my passions is crochet. I want to crochet one granny square each day of 2016. By the end of the year I will have a big blanket (or two). I want to design my own crochet patterns and publish them on my new blog, Naigeemakes. I also want to give more handmade gifts. I want to learn how to make soap. I want to write more. I want to master sourdough and ferment and preserve more food.

It’s time I give myself some TLC. This year I’d like to heal my body from the effects of my two recent pregnancies. My back has been so bad, and I want it to get better! I also want to shed 10 kilos and build up my strength again. I want to drink less wine and eat less chocolate, and I admit that I will not find either of those things easy to do. I want to read more and stress less.

And, let’s talk about stuff. This year, I want to be more mindful about the things we buy and keep in our home. I want to save some money and continue to get rid of the things we do not need. I want to buy less, make more. I want to ask myself these questions before I spend my money or keep something on the shelf: do I need this? and: could I make something similar?

So. My goals for 2016. I feel like I am really challenging myself this year. I will not be teaching, so I think I will have enough time and brain space to accomplish the things I am hoping to do… Or at least I hope I do!

What are your goals?

Happy new year!

Love your self sustainability goals. Your polytunnel looks great!
I’ve never really set goals but, a year of better health, more home grown veggies and good decisions would be great! Xx
