Well, it’s valentines day so this is kind of a good topic for today.
We don’t usually recognise valentines day, monte and I, but today monte came home from teaching a class and gave me some flowers and chocolate! I know! And we opened a cold bottle of champagne and had a few champers together and had a rather pleasant evening. Why not? I say, if there is a reason for flowers and chocolate and champagne, I am all for it!
I am loving the flowers in my garden right now. I like going outside when I am feeling housebound and kid-bound and housework-bound. It is invigorating to get up close to nature and absorb its goodness. I’m not the best gardener in the world but I enjoy the garden – any garden – so much.

I don’t know what this is. Do you?
I love my garden: a work in progress!
Hi Emma. I have pale blue and pink. They are such interesting flowers! We are enjoying them :)
Yes they are quite easy to grow and will reappear every year without you having to do a thing as they reseed very easily. Do you have many colours? There is the paler blue in your pic but also a lovely pink and a deeper blue. My fb pic (the one that comes up with my comments) is an example of the blue. Love them!
Oh Emma! Thank you for letting me know! That’s great. Georgie will love that too! Tell me, will it reseed itself quite easily? I’m assuming its an annual. It popped up in my garden by surprise; I planted some mixed cottage garden seeds in spring and this was the only thing that grew!
The flower at the bottom is the Nigella flower! Also known as Love In A Mist. We of course grow them here and I love their striking, beautiful flowers. The seeds are used in many Middle Eastern dishes. Nigella will be delighted to see ‘her flower’ growing in your garden! x
