the view from our back door this morning

It’s another beautiful day in the Huon Valley. I love waking up to clear blue skies and bright sunlight that shines on the dew on my garden, making it glisten. I find it beautiful when the mist sits in the valley like this and the sunrise casts a bright golden hue over everything. It is a peaceful and magical sight to walk out the kitchen door and be greeted by this kind of sight. The animals moo and baa and cluck and bark and meow at me in a way of saying ‘good morning,’ and I feel positive about this new day.

I love hearing the birdsong and I love the feeling of the fresh country air on my skin and in my lungs. It’s mornings like this that reinforce to me why I would rather live here than anywhere else.

It’s the Australia Day public holiday today but public holidays sometimes go unnoticed in this household. For one, the children and I are on holidays anyway, but Monte cannot always have the time off. I am hoping he does get some time off today because I want to clear the carport out and shift a few pieces of furniture around in the house to make an office/library that can easily be converted to a guest room. If he doesn’t take any time off I might use some spare time to hack at some weeds in the front garden. Yesterday I had quite a successful go at weeding the vegetable garden and feeding all the scraps to the chickens!
