The story of the Lego office

Matthew has a lovely little mate called Sebastian. They are awesome little friends; they are very cute when playing together and they are on the same wavelength in all things.

When Sebastian came to play a few days ago, he built this little office for Matthew. Inside the office, the dad is working hard, and the little boy is waiting for him to finish work, watching what he is doing.

Matthew showed me this this morning, and talked about it at great length. He spoke about how when dads work in the office, “they are there for a very, very long time.”

I like the little boy, waiting for his dad to finish at the office. It doesn’t take much to see how this little diorama is a metaphor for both Monte and Matthew. Monte is working a lot and because Matthew is at home on school holidays, he must feel like daddy is always working! He must feel like he is always waiting for daddy to finish work so they can play!

At least Monte works at home, and his hours are not as long as many fathers. We are grateful that Monte is around all the time, even if it does feel like he is in the office most of the time. At least he is here for us. We remind our children how lucky they are to have both their parents around most of the time. It is this aspect of our lifestyle that we are most appreciative of.
