Feeding Bessie

We went to see the cows. They ran towards us, smelling the cow pellets in the steel buckets. They look funny when they run. They are so big, yet they can run and bound, heaving their heavy bodies up the hill towards us. Bessie was the first to see us and run. Then Mr T came after her, with Bella close behind him. Bella pushed past Mr T and she was the first to stick her head in the bucket of pellets. She let us pat her whilst she guzzled the pellets.

Then I reached my hand in the bucket, took a handful of pellets, and reached out my hands to Bessie. She ate out of my hands without hesitation. She is strong and her tongue is so rough. I loved feeding my calf this way. I patted her whilst I fed her.

Bella ate out of my hand too! She kept licking us! Her tongue is so long! To think that a few days ago she was so timid that she didn’t want to come anywhere near us, and now she is eating out of our hands. It’s very exciting!

I love them. They are beautiful and peaceful and I love them.
