A solitary exploration on the farm

This may not be a big deal to many people, but it’s a big deal to me. I got a chance to go for a solitary wander last weekend, between laundry, cooking, animals and children. Getting some fresh air and walking up and down and over our hilly farm was just what I needed. I found it invigorating, enlightening and refreshing.

I chatted with the animals, especially Nina, who is sick. Bessie is being hand fed and she is becoming very tame. I like these girls so much.

I liked looking at the autumnal effects on the plants and I liked exploring for the first sign of daffodils, crouching like a small kid and poking around with a stick.

I even ventured into our little forest at the bottom of the property – but not very far, because it is so dense with bracken.

I watched the sun lowering behind the majestic gum trees on the north side of the property. Seems a bit depressing that our days are becoming so very, very short.

I liked going for a wander with d’Artagnan. She’s still energetic and fun, despite now being 12 1/2 years old. She’s so faithful and beautiful. I love her. I cherish my time with her because one day I will miss her. It’s not fair that our furry friends can’t live for ever

I love being outdoors. I always feel refreshed after my time in the fresh air. Each weekend on the farm feels like a holiday… almost.
