Teddy bear’s picnic

Published by Rebecca on February 25, 2012

If the weather is nice on Saturday morning we often have a teddy bears picnic outside on the deck.

The children gather their toys, books and some blankets and set things up. I gather teddy bear food and we make muffins, pancakes or scones. We take the food and drinks outside on trays and spend an hour or two just chilling, chatting and nibbling.

Today we had such a picnic. We made scones, which we ate with homemade plum and blackberry jams and cream. We ate teddy bear shaped biscuits and teddy bear lollies.

After the eating was finished, the children huddled together on their bears and blankets from some stories, read by Georgia. The books were all borrowed on her new library card. She chose books that her brother and sister would like as well. She’s such a darling!

It was hot, even in the morning. A warm northerly wind was bustling through the trees in the forest. We heard one crack – was it falling down, perhaps? We saw a big dragonfly and we found a caterpillar’s cocoon.

And, most importantly, the teddy bears had fun.
