If it’s there, kids will eat it, right? If they grow it, they’ll eat it, right?
In our quest to provide tempting healthy snacking treats for our children, snow peas are all the rage.
If you know how sweet food is, when picked straight from the tree/vine/bush/etc, then it will come as no surprise to you that snow peas are even better when freshly picked.
On the command: ‘eat as many as you like,’ Georgia munches away on these delights whenever she is playing outside.
(that’s a terrible photo; the peas are all supported on their stakes now)
And my beloved picks them for me, to add them to the lunches he makes me every day (am I not the luckiest girl in the world?)
With tomatoes just planted (I gave up my flower beds for them!), this summer will see some beautiful food growing just metres from our back door. I’m looking forward to posting about it.
Have you got any tips/ideas for easy, healthy kids’ snacks? I’d love to hear about it.
:)
Hi Rachel! Thanks for the tips! :) That sounds really healthy and yummy! xox
Yes, healthy snacking is so important! We always have on hand for a quick snack: organic popped corn(often in health food section), sultanas, nuts, carrots, celery, cheese, corn thins(with peanut butter, tahini, and honey), frozen berries, wholemeal pasta(cooked), dried fruit. I often do a plate of mixed items for Annabelle(2) to snack on. She loves it and so do I, knowing she’s eating healthy choices. I’ve seen mums get large ice block trays and put a few items of each snack in the separate sections for fun. Toddlers love stuff like that. :)
