My sewing ‘room’

Published by Rebecca on September 15, 2011

We have a 5 bedroom house, but with three children and a husband who runs a business from home, I’ve never really had a space of my own (and didn’t really feel like I needed one, until Monte started complaining that my evening sewing was disrupting his viewing/reading time).

So, I decided to convert this:

A messy, vague nook

Which was once this (September 2010):

Training Matthew in the family business (at the tender age of 4!)

Into this:

My zone

It took me a few hours, one evening, to clear things out and find new homes for them. At the same time, we sorted out Monte’s study (which doubles as a guest room, when we have guests). There are still a few things to do, like add some shelving and some more ‘decorative touches.’ I need to finish off my sewing machine cover, which took me 20 minutes to make :) as well.

And, lo and behold: my gorgeous, craft-loving daughter made a home for herself the next morning, not even 10 hours after finishing my space!

Doubles as Georgia-zone and Georgia-and-mummy-zone :)

Gotta love my wonderful Georgia. You can see her little sewing machine that I bought her at the start of these holidays.

So, now I have my own space. It feels good to have a place just for me (okay, well, sometimes the others take over).
