I was feeling pretty flat, so I went into the garden, where I did some gardening. Georgia and Matthew joined me, and they played happily and noisily whilst I weeded some potted plants; fertilised around the place; planted some irises and herbs; and cleaned up a bit. I found some interesting bugs and worms and beetles, and my interest and understanding of the process of gardening is increasing.
Anyway, I lamented a bit, after realising that I was not quite sure if I had actually smiled for the whole day! Strange. And just as I was entering a “woe is me” moment, Monte came outside with the baby. I turned and smiled at the image of my husband and our newest addition: despite her rapid growth, she always looks so tiny in his big arms. I turned back to my work.
Then suddenly Monte cried, “Eagle!” and I looked above me, where, just 20m above my head, flying towards me, came a dark wedge-tailed eagle. I beamed. I could hear the wings flapping, and could almost feel the air that those large wings displaced. WOW! In a small moment, I found joy in the simple majestic beauty of one of the most incredible beasts of the planet.
I felt totally blessed that the eagle graced me with its presence. There is happiness and beauty and wonder everywhere.
