Big stuff going on!

Here we are, back home in our mostly-cosy cabin in beautiful Geeveston. It was wonderful to see Monte at the airport and we have all had a lot to catch up on. Georgia is particularly excited to be with her daddy again!

Coming back home brought a few surprises. Firstly, on my seat of the car, Monte had placed the approval for our building plans. It was very exciting indeed! Things are starting to happen in the house department, with a great big, red, muddy splodge in the middle of our property. The said splodge is our house site, and I had a great time this morning, frollicking around in the areas of my home: bedroom, laundry, kids’ rooms, living room and kitchen. The site is a lot larger than we expected, and there are some lovely touches of terracing and garden areas (to-be!). Matthew, typically, enjoyed playing in the mud at the site, as did Lucy, who is in her element when getting dirty.

More treats have been in store for me, including a beautiful sculpture that my beloved is making me for my birthday. I was almost in tears when he showed me (last night, in the dark, cold night). He gave me my own ‘henny penny’ statue in memory of my favourite chicken who became dinner for the monster of our forest a few nights ago :(. The cabin looks lovely, with new floors and new walls in the kids’ room. There was a lovely bunch of flowers on the bench too.

I enjoyed exploring the caravan too. It will provide a lot more living space, as well as a ‘normal’ oven/stove and a fridge! We will have a guest/play room in the cabin, as well as a lounge and dining area. The caravan has a lot of storage space for blankets and manchester and whatever else we want to keep in there. We will need to discuss how to store some of our furniture because we are thinking about moving the bus up to the house site to be used as a workshop.

And today my son turns two! Two years ago he was a new bub in my arms, or, rather in the humidicrib. A lot has happened in the past two years, including our move to Tasmania, obviously. Matty is a very delightful lad, who talks a lot, smiles a lot and enjoys playing with cars and trucks, as well as dolls, blocks, trains and anything that he can make a lot of noise with!

For now I shall sit and enjoy the sound of the rain pounding on our roof. The rain that is soaking the two loads of washing that Monte and I only just hung out in sunshine. I suppose this is what Tasmania weather is all about!
