It’s true. You won’t believe it. I have a washing machine.
They haven’t been around for very long. And not many people on this planet have a washing machine. I almost feel guilty for having one – but not quite.
When I start to struggle with the small space we live in, and the lack of things I used to take for granted, I think about what I have compared to most of the people on earth. I have a lot. I have more than I will ever need. I don’t have a television, but we watch dvds on the laptops. We don’t have a fridge, as such, but it’s so cold outside that things don’t need to be in the fridge (eg we have a camping fridge, which is turned off, and keeps things safe from the animals’ hungry chops). We have hot and cold running water, a lovely shower, warm beds, a beautiful wood oven/stove. And now we even have a washing machine.
I can’t believe that I am blogging about a washing machine! I have been without my own washing machine for 6 months, and I was really noticing the struggle! It was lovely to do several loads of washing at home yesterday, once we had settled the bugger inside.
But it was sad when, on moving it outside, I noticed that the old twin tub had been sitting on its draining pipe, and would probably be working perfectly right now, had it been free of kinks on the drain pipe…
