We are having a few difficulties settling our son to bed at night. He keeps getting out of bed and running into our room and wanting to play!
One night he was not settling, as usual, and I could hear him scuffling around in his bedroom. When it finally went quiet I was relieved because it meant that he was asleep, at long last! Hooray, I finally had time to read or crochet or watch a film! Two more hours of time, just for myself, free from interruptions from little people…
You know something interesting is about to happen, don’t you?
Before bed, I go into the kids’ room to check that Georgia and Matthew are tucked up warmly in their beds. I kiss their sleepy, soft, warm cheeks and tell them that “I love [them] more than anything in the world.”
On this particular night I did this, but on entering the room, I could not see Matty! Where had he gone? I could not see him in his bed, or even on the floor!
So my eyes wandered up the ladder of the bunk bed, and found Matty fast asleep, sleeping with his little bottom up in the air, his mouth squished into a rosebud shape, like an Anne Geddes baby. He was snuggled next to Georgia!
Little Matty had climbed the ladder so he could be with Georgia. I would have loved to take a photo of this cuteness, but I was terrified that he would fall out of the bunk, like Georgia did on the ship over to Tassie (it was a rocky journey).
Now I put the two children into bed together. They keep eachother warm. The wake eachother up sometimes, but mostly I think they like being together. I find them with their arms draped over eachother, like a sleepy cuddle.
