Georgia and Matthew are trying to settle for bed. They both have runny noses. Monte is feeling crappy too. Our friends’ children have the chicken pox, and because we saw them recently, I think my children might be getting it too. Despite immunisation (which Georgia has had), I know of plenty of children who are getting the dreaded pox! We’ll probably still go and visit our friends over Easter, or at least meet up in a park somewhere for a BBQ and egg hunt. They are the closest to family we have down here. They are my in law’s in laws, if that makes sense. There’s also my father in laws cousin here. We’ll never be lonely.
One thing I notice about the people around here is that everybody seems to want to help out and look out for others. We have met some truly beautiful people recently. We hope to eventually be able to pay back in kind for the vegetables, tools and delicious meals that have been given to us.
We have heard that diesel prices are set to reach $2 a litre by Christmastime. How incredible is this thing called peak oil? We might be driving horse and cart sooner than we thought. What upsets me most is no more flights to visit my family. I just hope that I am getting too far ahead of myself. I am glad that we sold out of Adelaide when we did though. This life that we have is full of blessings.
