Fabric Friday

Princess Butterfly. That is what this gem is called. I like it. It is bright, florally and very pretty. I think that you either love this or you hate it. I like it for its crispness and the sharpness and colour of the images. I bought it at spotlight. I think it was $12.95 per metre. The Australian dollar is going so well right now that I could have bought 2 yards of designer fabric from the U.S for that price. Oh well.

Anyway, I bought 2.3m of princess butterfly to make myself a skirt. The day I bought this was the day we went to the kite festival in Hobart (I wrote about it somewhere in this post. Georgia and I agreed it was lovely, and because she chose some fabric for herself last time we ventured into spotlight, we agreed that it would be nice for me to wear.

Did you notice how I tried to justify buying more fabric by stating that my daughter agreed with me, therefore it was the right decision? I am clever, aren’t I?

My pattern says I need 2.3m for a skirt. It is a circle skirt. I have made myself a few of these, and you don’t need 2.3m. It’s more like 1.8m. Therefore, I have a fair bit left over, with which I could make Elora some pants or a dress. I could also make bags, purses, headbands, a scarf – or use it to appliqué anything. I could make a hat, actually, and wear it with my skirt. That way I will blind anybody who looks at me without their sunglasses, because I will be a bright sight, for sure.
