Chickens

The hens investigate their chook run for the first time.

The chooks like their yard! They have already done a good job of sorting out and scratching the ground. It was also fun to throw some of our food scraps out for them – much easier than taking the bucket of scraps down to the goats.

We made a little doorway for them out fascia boards and cement sheeting: the sheeting slots into the pre-cut slot in the wood. Easy! This will be good if we need to lock the birds in the shed or the yard for any reason. I’m glad that the chook run is fully enclosed at a height that we can easily walk around in!

Matt thought he would be a chicken too. He did a great job of shaking his tail feathers and he gave me a quick lesson on how to do it too!

It was nice to have dinner outside, with the added entertainment of having bok-boks to watch!
