We went to the Huon Show on the weekend. It was a lovely day, weather wise, and we had a fun time. I remember that last year, Elora was a newborn baby at the show, and it took us a few hours to walk around the main oval! That old post is over here. This year we were much quicker, and the children are so much bigger now!
We enjoyed watching the horses and a bullock team, but our favourite part of the show is always the dog jumping! This year, the winning dog jumped 2.6m. We imagined our dogs jumping … I don’t think they would get that high – although Jac would give it a good go (d’Artagnan is a bit too old now).
A day of eating bratwurst sausages and drinking hot coffee and eating delicious ice creams… Of getting a healthy dose of vitamin D/sunshine… Of watching and patting lovely animals and reminding the children to stay close… Of things to see, like wood chopping and chainsaw carving, old machinery and beautiful animals, and do, like a whirl on the ferris wheel and badgemaking, and things to buy, like dollies on sticks… It was fun.
But I am so glad it only happens once a year!
Elora is engrossed in the alpacas:
Georgia is a bumble bee:
A team of enormous bullocks intrigued us (especially Monte):

On the ferris wheel:
Kewpie dolls for Elora and Georgia (thanks Emma, for reminding us what they are called!)… (a bit eerie aren’t they!):
And Elora, who wants to be grown up and independent, and who wants to walk on her own everywhere, did NOT want to be in her pram!
A great weekend for us :)
