I am keeping a journal of my NaNo experiences. Today I wrote:
… i have written nearly 4000 words today and I am delighted. I have been working on the story of Timothy and I feel inspired and excited with my story! I’m so happy. I have really wanted to write today and I have spent a few hours writing … Some days will be easier than others. I have challenged myself to add more dialogue to my writing so that i can SHOW NOT TELL the story. I find that it is easier for me to describe things rather than write conversations between characters, but when the conversations start flowing so does my inspiration and drive to continue. When the characters interact with others, the story moves so much better, which gives me some ideas for what to do with Natalie’s story.
The other exciting thing that happened to me today was that I opened the Pandora box that is my old novel “the wind on her face.” it has been more than a decade since I began that story and it has been sitting in the back of my mind for a long time. I love my protagonist, a little girl whose name was Lana but which I might change to Lucy. I have been working on the plot of the story today and I am really geared up to work on that too. If only i didnt have three stories on the go though. I think it depends on my mood, as to which one I work on at any time. Nurturing, compassionate: Lana; Adventurous, imaginative: Timothy; Enamoured, playful or bored: Natalie.
Today has been a good day, on many levels, not just for writing, but for everything else too.
