Homecoming

I am behind in my posts for two reasons: 1) I had a baby last week; 2) Monte is always using the computer that I want to use. I’ll just take advantage of a moment when Monte is making lunch to write this post. Georgia and Matty are on the computer next to me and Georgia is singing along to “Hey soul sister.” Growing up! (that, too, is another post!)

It was wonderful to bring little Elora home to our strawbale abode on the hill last week. I was thrilled that my parents were here to celebrate the homecoming. Monte made a celebratory platter of things that I could not eat during pregnancy: soft and blue cheeses, smoked salmon and pate! Delicious. He also bought a bottle of Bollinger, and when he proposed the toast to the homecoming of his wife and new daughter, he got a bit emotional. He is very proud.

Celebrations!

Me with my daughters and my parents

Absolutely besotted and blessed with my three beautiful healthy babies!

Georgie is a devoted big sister, can’t you tell?

At 3 days old, Elora was initiated into the family business! (I love Monte’s happy face in this photo!)

Elora home in her bed

Elora will love her new room, once I can bear to part with her of a night-time

Since coming home last week, I have recovered well and Elora is settling in excellently. She fits into the family life so well, and I fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans! She has been waking just once in the night-time, at 2:30 am. Last night, however, she seemed to want more cuddles and would not settle. She even made loud squealing noises to get our attention! Monte exclaimed: “What was that?!” when she squealed, and then in a very paternal manner, went to get her from her bassinette. Once lying on Monte’s chest, she fell asleep happily, and spent the rest of the night in our bed, snoring between us.

We are all delighted with the new baby. Georgia and Matthew are being really helpful and are learning how to care for her. Elora loves them and she looks at them and listens to them intently. Elora is a real attention seeker! She just loves everybody cooing over her.

Monte and I feel very blessed to have three healthy, happy and easy babies. People are already telling us to have more! I’d love to have a million of these precious things…
